Environmental education at the Urban Wildlife Centre

Our newest Education Centre is at the Urban Wildlife Centre in Corfe Mullen, only 10 minutes from Poole town centre.

The centre is on the edge of Upton Heath which makes it the perfect place to study the internationally important heathland habitat. The centre is also adjacent to a former quarry and existing landfill which provides the context of human effects on the environment.

We offer various activities on the heath such as:

Pond dipping
Mini beast hunts
Discovery walks
Succession
Adaptations
Human Impacts

The Education Centre also houses the brand new David Ballam Education Room which will include information displays, interactive activities and bat roost and bird box cameras linked to a television.

This facility opened in May 2008 and will help reinforce activities carried out on Upton Heath.
