Corfe Mullen Meadow Reserve

Size: 2ha.

On the outskirts of Corfe Mullen; managed traditionally as a hay meadow, the reserve supports many wildflower species.  Cut each year in July and grazed until the following February.

Wildlife interest:

  • One of the largest populations of green-winged orchids in the county.
  • Home to bird's-foot trefoil, black knapweed & yellow bartsia.

Best time to visit:

May, for the meadow flowers.

Access:

Good walking surface.  Take care when stock is on the reserve.

Location:

Map ref. SY 980967.  Travelling S. on A350 (Blandford Road North), turn left at traffic lights for Corfe Mullen on the Old Wareham Road.  Travel for 1.2km, turn left down Waterloo Road for further 1.2km;  the reserve is on the right opposite houses.
