Tracking the Dorset Hare
Dorset Wildlife Trust's 'Tracking the Brown Hare' report, released in 2003, concluded that there has been little contraction of range of hares in Dorset in the last 50 years.
- The project received sightings from across Dorset, which helped DWT to determine the distribution of the brown hare across the county.
- These results were used in tandem with older historic records to conclude whether Dorset has suffered any kind of contraction in it's brown hare territories.
The project aimed to:
- give an up-to-date picture of the distribution of the brown hare in the county
- and raise awareness of Dorset's brown hares and their conservation, which would then enable wildlife organisations to help target advisory work.
The report was funded by English Nature and Mammals Trust UK and is available for downloading in WORD format: |
