Gardening for Wildlife

What can I do to encourage wildlife into my garden?

Wildlife requires 4 things to live: food, water, shelter and places to breed, so if you provide these elements your garden may become a wildlife haven.

The Wildlife Trust's 'Guide to Wildlife Gardening' leaflet lists lots of features that that could be incorporated into your garden, whatever the size.

The Dorset Wildlife Trust also produces a series of eight leaflets entitled "Living Gardens - Gardening Action for Wildlife" to help with many aspects of creating a wildlife garden.

To obtain these leaflets please send an A5 S.A.E to DWT, Brooklands Farm, Forston, Dorchester, Dorset DT2 7AA.
