Dorchester Wildlife Garden bags the money

Volunteers planting bulbsMarks and Spencer are supporting Dorchester Wildlife Garden with money from the sale of carrier bags.  The M&S Pilot Carrier Bag Scheme helps community projects in areas where there are M&S stores.  Customers pay 5p per bag and all this money goes to good causes, in this case the realisation of plans for Dorchester Wildlife Garden, for the benefit of wildlife and local people.

The garden is a partnership project between Dorset Wildlife Trust, Dorset Works, Dorset County Museum and the community to provide an oasis for all and to encourage wildlife friendly gardening.   DWT's Joy Wallis said: "This means we can really achieve our wildlife garden, not only for everybody to enjoy, but also for local people to learn how to garden with wildlife in mind.   At the same time, we are also providing a great habitat right here in town. Everybody wins!"

DWT is looking for volunteers to become friends of the garden and join in monthly work parties.  Anyone who is interested please contact Joy Wallis on 01305 264620.
