5 Tonnes of Rubbish Removed from Beaches

Beachclean Group at WorbarrowThanks to an amazing effort from volunteers cleaning the beaches in the Purbeck Marine Wildlife Reserve over the past few years, we have been able to remove the litter on a quarterly basis every year.  Throughout 2007, hundreds of people helped remove over 5 tonnes of rubbish from the beaches of Kimmeridge, Worbarrow,  Chapmans Pool and Charnel.  What an amazing amount!

The most recent beachclean at Worbarrow was attended by 81 volunteers who helped to remove 107 bags weighing a total of 525kg!  Kimmeridge and Charnel were attended by 110 people who helped remove 847kg and 133kg respectively.  So in total 1.5 tonnes removed by 231 individuals in one day.

Thank you once again to all those that helped and we will look forward to seeing you sometime in the near future.  We couldn't have done it without you!

Future dates for beachcleans within the reserve can be found under the events page.
